Christmas time is here!

Sometimes, the best way to deal with the final test/paper season that has hit our lovely college, is focus on the other great event of the month: Christmas!  Our house is all decked out with holiday cheer, and it makes it so much more pleasant and beautiful!

Gina decorating our mini-tree!

Amy hung our stockings by the chimney with care.

Even Migo, our fish, got a mini one too!

Our cute little town covered in snow and lights.

Even Emmeline, our town bear, got decked out in lights and snow!

Winter has arrived!

The view from my front porch!  Winter has finally arrived!  You can tell by the people slipping down the hill, the increased use of scarves, and the lack of students in class.  Tis the season!  The most wonderful time of the year :)

Fake Thanksgiving!

This past Sunday, we hosted our very own fake-thanksgiving!  Since we have a huge living room, and friends who were ready for some delicious thanksgiving food, we held a little shindig at 34 Main.  After all was said and done we had about 15 people all gathered in various chairs around our living room, and a great need to unbutton our pants after all of the food we consumed! With everyone bringing more than one dish, we were quite full and satisfied by the end of it!

Overall, it was a huge success, and everyone got very involved in the whole process, bringing lots of food and enjoying the fake-holiday.  I am glad that we had the opportunity to do it and host!

Preparing the delicious gravy

Gina's lovely relish platter.

Carving my very first turkey (breast)!!

I mean doesn't it just look delicious and perfectly cooked?

Amy and her delicious Jello.

Everyone's contributions!

We had so much we had to put it on the mantle!

Our deserts had to fit in the kitchen!

Our guests: Aileen, Kristin, Gina, and Hannah

Abby, Ellen, Amy, and Amy

Jessi and Brit

Paul, Vinny, and Ally

Hostesses so proud of our accomplishments.

Halloweekend!

For the first time in a while, I actually went out and dressed up for Halloween!  Halloween at college is an interesting experience always, a combination of girls trying to find the most scanty costumes they can and the guys trying to put as little effort in as possible.  For my costume of choice, I went as Velma from Scooby Doo!  Simple, to the point, and for less than $5!!!

Librarian, mechanic, and Pippy Long-stocking

Daphne (also from scoobydoo) and unnamed...aka Ally haha

Daphne and Velma, in character

The girls! Velma, Lady GaGa, Daphne, Mechanic, Pippy, Unnamed, Librarian, and Flo (the insurance lady!)
i.e. Me, Kristin, Gina, Hannah, Kim, Ally, Jessie, and Aileen

Velma and Daphne with their favorite insurance saleswoman! Flo!

Ally and our party host (Vinny/a doctor)

They put a lot of effort into their decorations!

We even got FOUR whole tricker-treaters at our door!  Four!  We tried...we turned on the light and everything, but apparently no one wanted to walk down our creepy walkway all the way to our porch...go figure!

Columbus day weekend

Sometimes there is nothing better than three days off from school, away from your books and papers, and spending some time in the comfort of your own home.  It was a nice little respite for some good rest and relaxation for all of us!

I make fun of my parents A LOT for how much they talk about Maddie (the new daughter), but after spending a lovely weekend with her I now understand.  She is just adorable, cuddly, and genuinely sweet!  So I SUPPOSE I understand now, a little bit better at least, how their lives have become dominated by this new fuzz ball.

Other than that, we were able to accomplish a lot of chores (four thousand pounds of laundry for example) and just spend some quality bonding time.  There was almost no fighting, and we barely got on each others nerves!  It was fantastic!  Family time at its best :)

New wheels!

So it has been an eventful couple of weeks at Geneseo, as teachers gave out tons of assignments before and after Columbus day break, making students curse the day they signed up for their classes.  But probably the most exciting thing that has happened recently is what Lex and I got to bring back with us after Columbus day weekend....a new car!
New wheels! (With a rare sisterly moment captured on film)

Thanks to the generosity of my lovely grandmother and my parents, I now have car at school!  It has already made so many things easier in my life.  Lex and I were able to drive back to school, just the two of us, without worrying about finding rides, balancing everyone's schedules, or any of that nonsense.  Plus, this weekend my friends and I went to the Rochester Public Market (more to follow on that).

It is just so luxurious to have a car my senior year.  I have flexibility that I've never had in the past, and although my friends have been VERY understanding and go out of their way to help me with rides etc, it is nice to be able to start paying some of that back, bit by bit.Plus it means that I can go and pop up to see Lex whenever I want (i.e. next weekend!)
